Community Outreach

Department members participate in numerous events throughout the village and the surrounding area in an effort to engage the community we serve. Some of the events are designed to educate while others give citizens the opportunity to interact with officers in a more casual manner.

Public Safety Family Fun Night

The Annual Public Safety Family Fun Night brings representatives from the DeForest Police Department, Fire Department, Public Services and other local emergency services on site to provide interactive exhibits, demonstrations, education, answer questions, and offer important information on topics. This night provides an opportunity for residents to connect with local agencies in a relaxed and informal setting while fostering trust, strengthing relationships, and promoting open communication between public safety agencies and our community.

DeForest Parks & Recreation Programs

In a concerted effort to foster positive relationships and promote community engagement, the DeForest Police Department has joined forces with the Recreation Department to provide enriching programs tailored to the youth of our community. This innovative partnership aims to not only enhance recreational opportunities, but also to build trust and rapport between law enforcement officers and our youngest citizens.

Coffee with a Cop

Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to engage in casual, one-on-one conversations with local police officers. By breaking down the barriers of formality and creating a relaxed atmosphere, this event fosters meaningful connections between law enforcement personnel and the public they serve. Residents have the chance to voice concerns, ask questions, and share feedback in an informal setting, promoting transparency and understanding.

Bike to School with an Officer

Bike to School with an Officer is a celebration of physical activity, camaraderie, and safety consciousness. On a designated day, students are encouraged to dust off their bikes, lace up their sneakers, and join their peers for a group ride to school, escorted by the officers from the DeForest Police Department. This shared journey not only promotes the importance of regular exercise but also emphasizes the value of bicycle safety awareness and community cooperation.

Shop with a Cop

"Shop with a Cop," an annual event that brings together DeForest Police Department and local children for a memorable holiday shopping experience. Through generous donations from local businesses, organizations, and community members, participating children are able to shop for gifts without worrying about the cost, ensuring that their families can enjoy a brighter and more joyful holiday season.
