Citizen's Police Academy

The DeForest Police Department is excited to offer to the community an opportunity to participate in the Citizen Police Academy. This community based hands-on policing program is designed to increase citizen awareness of a police officer's job responsibilities, improve communication with citizens, and create an understanding between police department employees and residents of the community. The Citizen Police Academy is a eight (8) week course.

Medication Disposal

Unwanted, expired prescriptions and over the counter medications can be discarded at the DeForest Public Safety Building (110 S. Stevenson St.) during business hours. The medication disposal box is located within the lobby. Help keep medications out of the wrong hands and the water supply. The DFPD also hosts two drive thru Drug Take Back Day events throughout the year.

Is your business or organization prepared for the threat of an active threat/shooter incident? The DeForest Police Department offers free training on active shooter preparedness for our community. These presentations are taught by department members certified to instruct a hybrid model of the ALICE and ALERRT methods of civilian active shooter response.

Training sessions can be customized for your workplace and time constraints. Typical training sessions run between one to two hours.
